As early childhood experts, we all know—and see every day—the importance of engaging families of young children in their child’s education. Emergent research is showing just how important that work is to facilitating better child outcomes, promoting Kindergarten readiness and strengthening families. Early childhood programs are uniquely positioned to partner with families. Families place a great deal of trust in their program and their child’s teachers—they are open to partnership.
With this AmeriCorps initiative, we are working with high-quality pre-K programs that are committed to a deep and thoughtful expansion of their family engagement work. With support from the Lilly Endowment and Serve Indiana, Early Learning Indiana is able to offer these programs an AmeriCorps member that is on site four days a week as a full-time resource for family engagement efforts!
