VCIBAP Frequently Asked Questions

  • How can I apply for Vanderburgh County Initiative Based Assistance Program?

    a) Download the application from our website
    b) Call and request one to be mailed to you
    c) Come to 4C and pick one up
    d) After you have completed the application, you can drop it off, mail it, or fax it to 4C. If you have questions during the application process, feel free to give us a call.

  • What documents do I need with my child care application?
    • Pay stubs from the last 30 days

    • Class schedule (if enrolled in school)

    • Photo ID of all caregivers 18 and older in the household

    • Birth certificates of each child in the household

    • Child support printout. If it is court ordered that you receive support, but the parent does not pay, you still must attach a printout.

    • Unemployment checks

    • Social Security checks or Supplemental Security Income checks

    • Verification of application to the Vanderburgh County CCDF (4C’s) waiting list. Form attached to application packet.
  • What documents do I need with my safety net application?
    • Pay stubs from the last 30 days

    • Class schedule (if enrolled in school)

    • Photo ID of all caregivers 18 and older in the household

    • Birth certificates of each child in the household

    • Child support printout. If it is court ordered that you receive support, but the parent does not pay, you still must attach a printout.

    • Unemployment checks

    • Social Security checks or Supplemental Security Income checks

    • Car registration. Registration must be in applicant’s name, registered in Vanderburgh County, and current.
  • What are the qualifications for the program?

    The qualification rules are included in each application packet.

  • How many times can I use the Initiative Based Assistance Program?

    You are only allowed to be on the program once.

  • How long is the waiting list?

    The wait time varies. We can give you a more accurate estimate when you turn in the application.

  • What happens if I submit my application and it’s missing something?

    We will return your application to you with a letter outlining what is missing. Applications will not be processed until all necessary items are provided.

  • What if I just started a new job and do not have any pay stubs?

    We will need a letter (on your company letterhead) from your employer stating:

    • Date of hire

    • Start date

    • How many hours a week you will be working

    • How much you will be making

    • Date of first pay stub

    Your application will be pending until you bring in pay stubs to complete the process.

  • What if I am a foster parent or guardian of a child? Can I get assistance with child care?

    Yes, but we will need some kind of documentation stating that you have legal custody of the child. This could be a court order, something from a case worker, or the school corporation.
