Sam graduated from University of Southern Indiana in 2013 with her Master of Sciences in Occupational Therapy (OT). She has 3 years of direct-care experience creating and implementing an OT program for children with Autism and other neurobehavioral disorders at an Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) center. Sam also gained experience in behavioral modification techniques following the science behind ABA and was formally trained as a behavior analyst. While working at the ABA center, Sam was a program coordinator for two in-school and two after-school social skills groups as well as consulted on preschool social programming and curriculum. Here she was able to use her background and training in recognizing atypical developmental milestones. Working with children with Autism is what forged Sam's passion for cultivating an environment where every individual is always included and always heard. Through this passion she has developed and continues to coordinate a Special Needs Ministry at Crossroads Christian Church as well as serve on the Board of Directors for Autism Evansville. As Sam was working in direct-care, she became eager to train and educate others on how to directly change the lives of thousands of children and families. Sam started working at 4C in July of 2017 as the Inclusion Specialist. Sam is thrilled to use her experience and position at 4C to empower child care providers to be the change in climate we want to see in early childhood education and in turn, impact thousands of lives.
