Officers of the Board
Holly has a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology with a Minor in Psychology, a Bachelor of Science Marketing from Indiana University and a Masters in Business from University of Evansville. Her husband of 13 years is Matthew Smith and works full-time for Nestle and is a Regional Territory Manager. He travels extensively with his job and on any given day she might not know what state he is in. Her kids are Zoe age 6, and Jayden age 3. Zoe is a 1st Grader at Highland Elementary and Jayden is in preschool at Central Childcare. Zoe loves reading, piano and board games and Jayden really loves monster trucks and camouflage anything. She is interested in volunteering at 4C to help enhance the branding, marketing and planning of the organization.
Holly hopes her background can bring additional knowledge and skill set to such an amazing organization that helps families and children in our community. She hopes to contribute to the mission by exploring more about the mission and how to best market, communicate and bring awareness to the services that 4C has to offer our community. There are many paths to this engagement, but leveraging digital media (online including social media) and/or community for insights can help steering this organization to new horizons. Holly also hopes to bring a level of excitement and creativity to the table.
Laurie holds a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from the University of Tennessee and an associate degree in Applied Child Development from Walter's State Community College. Since 2002, Laurie has been the Director of the Evansville Arc Child Life Center. Prior to joining the Child Life Center, she served as a preschool director and a Head Start teacher and assistant director in Virginia. Laurie is married and has two children. Laurie's objective in volunteering with 4C is to be a leader in the field of early childhood education by providing parents and community professionals with a good model for meeting and maintaining best practices.
Amy is the Volunteer & Work Life Programs Manager Old National Bancorp. She is married and has two daughters ages 13 and 3. Amy holds a Bachelor of Science from USI in fine arts, Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification, and she is currently pursuing a Masters of Public Service Administration degree from UE.
Amy says she is interested in volunteering with 4C because the early years are a critical time in a child's development, and she would like to see all children be prepared to succeed when starting school. As Secretary, Amy hopes to add value to 4C through bringing the perspective of business clients as well as that of a parent.
Erica currently works at Vectren as the Electric Reliability Compliance manager. She previously worked in Vectren’s Internal Audit department, at Southwestern Healthcare as Controller, and Harding Shymanski & Company. Erica lives on the west side of Evansville with her husband and their five year old and two month old sons. She also serves as a Mental Health America of Vanderburgh County board member.
Members at Large
Andrea is the Early Childhood Education Program Chair at Ivy Tech Community College. She earned her Bachelor of Sciences from Purdue University in Consumer and Family Sciences and her Master of Arts in Education with an Early Childhood concentration from Ball State University. Before joining Ivy Tech full time in January of 2016, Andrea worked for Head Start for 15 years most recently as the Director of Education for Vanderburgh, Gibson, and Posey counties serving 660 children.
As a long-time resident of Posey County, her new role at Ivy Tech, and her continued passion for the Head Start program, Andrea believes she can offer a unique perspective to the 4C’s Board to better serve her community, students, and young children. Andrea is looking forward to working with other members of the community to promote the mission of 4C’s of Southern Indiana and raise awareness of the needs of young children, their families, and the professionals providing their care.
Sara is a pediatric nurse practitioner (PNP) at the Deaconess Riley Children’s Specialty Center. She earned her Post –Master’s certification as a PNP at Purdue University. Sara specializes in early evaluation of autism, pediatric mental health and pediatric cardiology. Sara also teaches pediatrics for family nurse practitioners at Olivet University. Prior to joining Deaconess Riley, Sara taught nursing at Vincennes University and worked as a neonatal nurse at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, DC where she completed a pediatric nursing fellowship.
Sara has devoted her career to the care and education of children and their parents and can provide a healthy growth and development perspective in the provision of child care. She is looking forward to contributing to the vision and growth of the 4C’s of Southern Indiana.
Kim received a bachelor’s degree in Business from Butler University and Masters from the University of Evansville. She works for the Chamber of Commerce of Southwest Indiana as the Regional Director of the Southwest Indiana Small Business Development Center (ISBDC), an organization that provides business consulting to entrepreneurs to help them start a business and for established companies to assist them in areas of market research, business planning and financial management.
As a volunteer, Kim has served with several local organizations, and currently serves on the Evansville Brownfields Corporation Advisory Board. She is married and has two children. When asked why she chose to volunteer with 4C, Kim said, “4C’s mission is critical to the economic development of our region as well as the health of our community. It’s an honor to be part of an organization that has such broad impact on our region’s future.”
Joe is an attorney who practices in business and commercial matters, with specific emphasis in disputes involving business and commercial transactions, real estate, banking and finance and bankruptcy and creditor rights. Joe also advises his clients in matters of construction law. He is a partner with Rudolph, Fine, Porter & Johnson, LLP. Joe was not born a Hoosier, but do not hold that against him because he has embraced the Hoosier culture all while not abandoning his Michigan upbringing.
Joe married out of his league to Julia Langerak and is the proud father of Joey, Martha Mae and George. They live in Evansville on the east side and spend their free time racing around in their mini-van going from one children's activity to another. Joe remains passionate about positive early childhood development and education, with special emphasis on children with special needs. It is that passion that brought him to 4C.
Heather McNabb is the Engagement and Experience Officer at the Evansville Vanderburgh Public Library. McNabb received a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Southern Indiana and a master’s degree in library science from Indiana University. Before working in public libraries, Heather worked in Early Childhood Education for over 10 years. Heather resides on the west side of Evansville with her husband, Rick, and her two children, Audrey and Logan.
Heather feels that serving on the 4C Board allows her the chance to give back to an organization that gives so much to the child care educators and families in our community. During her work in a local child care center she witnessed the support 4C provides. She is proud to be able to serve, and feels that the 4C mission aligns well with her passion for creating a future where every child is supported, educated, and valued during their childhood.
Angie is the Executive Director of HUMminginbird Child Care Ministry, and Adjunct Faculty for Ivy Tech. She earned her Bachelor of Sciences from Indiana State University in Elementary Education and her Master of Arts in Early Childhood Education from Indiana University. She has been the Executive Director for HUMmingbird for over 10 years, with previous experience in a variety of child care settings including non-profit, for profit and Head Start. With almost twenty-five years of experience within the Early Childhood field she has professional experience as a home visitor, Early Intervention Specialist, Classroom Teacher, Child Development Specialist, Inclusion Specialist & Early Childhood Mentor, Executive Director and Adjunct Faculty.
With Angie’s extensive background in Early Childhood and her knowledge of the 4C services, she is excited to be a part of the board and be involved in the future plans for this amazing program and the services it provides the children, families, providers, and the community as a whole. Angie offers a unique perspective to 4C's Board to continue to serve the rural communities that they serve. Angie is looking forward to collaborating with other members of the community who are as passionate about the mission of 4C of Southern Indiana. Assisting in increasing the community awareness of the needs of young children, their families, and the professionals providing their care is important to Angie.
Brittany is a Staff Accountant at Harding, Shymanski & Co. Brittany attended the University of Southern Indiana and graduated in August 2014 with Bachelors of Science degrees in Accounting & Professional Services and Finance. She is currently pursuing her licensure as a Certified Public Accountant. Brittany enjoys spending time with her husband, Shawn, two sons, Aiden and Keaton, and two dogs, Coco and Jump Jump (take a wild guess at who named them).
While Brittany was attending the University of Southern Indiana, she utilized the services of 4C to assist her with taking care of her children. Brittany can attribute a lot of her success to the services and assistance that was provided by 4C while she was trying to obtain a college education. She is very passionate about giving back to 4C, and providing others with the same opportunities that helped her succeed and provide for her family. Brittany is enthusiastic about the growth and future of 4C, and she is very eager to advocate its mission as a result of her first-hand experience.
Aaron received his Bachelor’s degree in psychology and business as well as a Master’s in education from Indiana University in Bloomington. He then earned his law degree from Washington University in St. Louis. Aaron is now an attorney at Ziemer, Stayman, Weitzel, Shoulders, LLP.
Originally from Mt. Vernon, Aaron was excited to return to Southern Indiana for his legal career. Aaron has a passion for early childhood education and believes that an investment in the care of our youngest citizens offers a wide range of benefits to the City of Evansville. Because of their incredible mission, 4C was the first organization he sought to become a part of after returning to the area.
James "Ja" Wilson
James (Ja, pronounced Jay) is the Sr Leadership Strategist at EVSC. He earned his Master's in Educational Administration from University of Southern Indiana. He also has degrees in history, political science, social studies, and business administration. Before working at EVSC, Ja was a teacher, assistant principal, and principal with the South Spencer School Corporation, as well as the Director of Student Services at Daviess County Schools.
Ja did not start his career in education but always had a yearning to help children so he returned to school to obtain his teaching credentials and commenced a career change that put him on the front line. Ja has seen the benefits of appropriate child care and early childhood education first hand and believes in the mission of 4C. He enjoys spending time with his wife, Carmen, two daughters, Lindsey and Aimee.
Aleisha most recently served as the Early Childhood Administrator for the Henderson County School district in Kentucky, which is a state funded preschool program. She led the district task force for the construction, design, and programming of the Thelma B. Johnson Early Learning Center. Her role directly served children and families increase their school readiness scores through her work as Chair of their Early Childhood Council. Aleisha is a thought leader and has participated in early childhood studies with Nobel Prize Laurette in Economics, Dr. James Heckman, including "Understanding and Comparing the Mechanisms Producing the Impacts of Early Childhood Programs" and "Analyzing the Influential Early Childhood Policies that are Proven to Promote Human Flourishing: Understanding Which Strategies Work (Including a Cost-Benefit Analysis) and Why".
Aleisha sees a bright future for early childhood education in Southwestern Indiana. She is passionate to shepherd the work ahead to ensure families can find and access affordable quality early childhood education.

Jenny brings 15 years of experience in non-profit leadership and human capital management to 4C. Prior to joining 4C, Jenny worked for SCAN, Inc. of Fort Wayne Indiana where she provided policy, contract, and best practices oversight to 42 Healthy Families Programs. She also served as a National Peer Reviewer during her time with SCAN, Inc. Her educational profile includes a Bachelor of Education from Eastern Illinois University and Masters of Business Administration work from University of Southern Indiana. Throughout her career Jenny has passionately dedicated herself to programming with service to families and children. Her background includes child forensic interviewing, various public speaking events along with training development and delivery across the state on motivational interviewing, child abuse, and staff development. Jenny volunteers her time as a commissioner for the Westside Youth Basketball and Cheer Program which serves over 700 of our local youth.

Erin earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Criminology from Indiana State University. She has 6 years of experience in the social services field. She has worked at 4C since September 2011. Erin chose to work at 4C because she wanted to help further the 4C mission and see young children benefit from having quality child care available to them.

Melinda earned an associate’s degree in computer networking and an associate’s degree in finance from Ivy Tech and attended the University of Evansville for 2 years. She has taken coursework in information systems, Microsoft Office, Windows and other operating systems, human resources, banking and financial services. Melinda has 14 years of experience in administrative work and data information systems and has worked at 4C since 2006. She chooses to work at 4C because the mission and vision of 4C are both something she truly believes in, and she is passionate about the work the agency does to improve the lives of children.

Amy earned a bachelor’s degree in consumer and family sciences with a major in child studies and minor in family studies from Western Kentucky University. She is a certified trainer for 1,2,3,4 Parents!, a Parent Educator for Parents as Teachers, and a Baby Signs Agency Certified Instructor. Amy has 13 years of experience in the field of early childhood. She started at 4C as an intern in the Summer of 2007 and has worked at 4C since 2008. She chooses to work at 4C because she believes in the vision and mission of 4C and is proud to be working toward them every day.

DaKyissa earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology from Indiana University-Purdue University-Indianapolis. She has worked in the field of Social Services for over 11 years. Aside from that, she has also worked as a Professional Makeup Artist. In 2014, she started her own business, Beauty Date. There, she works as a Beauty Coach to help young women and girls overcome the ugliness in life. DaKyissa chose to work at 4C because she is passionate about helping youth and families. She values the 4C vision and mission.

Melissa holds a Bachelors of Art degree in history from Ball State University, and a Masters degree in elementary education from Oakland City University. She has 10 years of experience dealing with school aged children with her work in the classroom, and with various summer camps. She started working at 4C in 2015, and is excited to bring her passion for children and education to 4C. Melissa chose to work at 4C, because she believe that with a great educational foundation you can achieve anything!

Amy is a graduate of the University of Southern Indiana. She holds an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education and a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work. Amy has many years of experience, having worked as an Early Childhood Teacher, a Child Care Assistant Director, a Child Care Director, a Service Coordinator through First Steps, and a Licensed Child Care Home Provider, enrolled in Paths to QUALITY. Amy chooses to work for 4C as a Family Child Care Support Coach because she wants to encourage and coach Family Child Care Home Providers to be all they can be.

Nathan holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Elementary Education from the University of Southern Indiana. He has 5 years of experience working in early childhood education. Nathan chooses to work at 4C because he believes strongly in the mission and he wants to help providers create engaging and meaningful learning experiences in a quality environment for the children in their care.

Kerry earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Evansville. She has 12 years of experience in the social services field. Kerry joined 4C in February of 2017. She chose to work at 4C because she believes every family should have access to quality child care.

Kristin has a CDA and has certifications in communications and social and behavioral sciences from Owensboro Community and Technical College. Kristin is a CPR, First Aid, AED, Blood borne Pathogens Instructor through the American Red Cross. She has worked at 4C for over 8 years and has 15 years of experience in early childhood education. She chooses to work at 4C because she is able to be actively involved with the influence of health and nutrition education for children now and for their future.

Amanda holds an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Early Childhood Education. She has 12 years of experience working in Early Childhood. She began working for 4C in April of 2014. She wants to help families receive quality childcare and she believes children deserve the chance of getting a high quality education at an early age.

Shanon has a B.A. in Sociology from Western Kentucky University and over 10 years in childcare experience. She started in Oct 2012 as a CCDF Intake Specialist for the CCDF Voucher Program. Shanon chooses to work for 4C because she is passionate about helping every family find quality child care and seeing children succeed.

Jessica earned her bachelor’s degree in consumer and family sciences with a major in child studies and a minor in family studies as well as obtaining her Directors Credentials from Western Kentucky University. She is a certificated Parent Educator for Parents as Teachers. She has 11 years experience in the field of early childhood and 2 years experience in Community Education for a counseling crisis center. Jessica chooses to work at 4C because she believes in the mission and values the importance of educating and helping others.

Sarah has worked in the early childhood field for 13 years. She graduated from the University of Southern Indiana with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education that included a Kindergarten Endorsement. Sarah also has an Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Southern Indiana. Most of her experience has been as a Head Start teacher, but she has also worked as an Assistant Director at a child care and an Early Childhood Mentor.
Sarah chooses to work at 4C because she believes in the mission, and she is passionate about quality early childhood education. She wants to help providers realize the importance of providing quality care with intentional and meaningful learning environments and experiences.

Carman holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Oakland City University. She has 7 years experience working in the early childhood field, where most of her time was working with toddlers. Carman began working for 4C in January of 2016. She chooses to work at 4C because she believes in 4C’s mission, vision, and core values. Carman wants to give providers and families the best possible resources to ensure the healthy development of their children.

Alysia holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Southern Indiana in Advertising and Public Relations with a double minor in Business Administration and Sociology. She has several years’ experience working in program development and building community relationships. She began working at 4C in July 2015 and is excited about the opportunity to broaden the public’s knowledge of 4C’s programs and be a resource to families.

Christy holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Elementary Education, a minor in Social Studies and a kindergarten and middle school endorsement from the University of Southern Indiana. She has 10 years of experience in the field of early childhood education. Christy chooses to work at 4C because she feels strongly about 4C’s mission and she wants to help providers and caregivers create meaningful and engaging learning experiences.

Ginny earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with a Kindergarten Endorsement from University of Southern Indiana and a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Indiana State University. Ginny has 15 years’ experience teaching at the elementary level and two years’ experience at the college level. She has four years’ experience in early childhood working with families in local shelters. Ginny previously worked at 4C as the volunteer coordinator for PlaySpaces. She chooses to work at 4C because she believes that education begins at birth, and 4C has so many resources to be able to help so that children and parents are successful.

Heather holds a Master’s of Science Management degree, Bachelor of Arts in Education Non-Teaching, a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with concentrations in Management and Marketing and an Associate’s Degree in Social Sciences. She has worked at 4C since 2008 and is the Director of CCR&R Programs. She chooses to work at 4C because her passion in life is to impact children’s lives in a positive way and 4C’s mission and vision are aligned with her principles and values allowing her to help move the 4C cause ahead.

Lora holds a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from the University of Notre Dame and a Master of Science in Education from Bank Street College of Education. Lora has 13 years of experience in education and program management. She started at 4C in April 2015. Lora chooses to work at 4C because of 4C’s mission to ensure that all young children have access to the resources they need to be successful as they grow and develop.

Conni earned an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education from Henderson Community College and earned a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Murray State University. She has worked in the field of Early Childhood Education for over 25 years as a classroom teacher, a Child Care Director with Henderson County Schools for over 21 years, Head Start assistant, and as a home-based child care provider. Conni came to 4C because she believes in the mission, vision, and core values and wanted work with providers to build relationships and to improve Early Childhood learning experiences.
Jill earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Evansville. She has 14 years of experience as a developmental therapist with First Steps, Indiana’s birth to three program. She brings five additional years of experience working with children with special needs and typically developing children through summer camps and child care.
Jill believes strongly in the power of early childhood education and feels that parents and families are the most important players in a child’s development. This, along with 4C’s vision and values, are what excites Jill about being a part of 4C.

April earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Southern Indiana. She has worked in the field of Early Childhood Education for approximately 5 years. April has been a lead teacher in classrooms with children ranging in age from birth to 5. She began working at 4C in January 2014 and is very excited to join the staff at 4C. April believes in 4C’s mission and looks forward to helping achieve it.

Vanessa earned a Bachelors Degree in elementary education and an Associate Degree in early childhood from the University of Evansville. She has over 30 years of experience in the Early Childhood field. She has taught children of various ages and has been a director of an early childhood program. Vanessa has been a member of 4C for over 25 years using many of the programs offered. She has always believed in what 4C stands for and where it wanted to go in the field of early education. She started working at 4C in October 2012 and is excited about working with 4C.
