QUALIFICATIONS: CDA required or 12 hours in Early Childhood Education and working towards Degree. Experience working with infants/toddlers. Knowledge of safety issues, illness concerning infants/toddlers. Skills in patience, time management, remaining calm, talking with parents. Ability to be flexible, capture nurturing moments, react and move quickly, research needs of infants/toddlers. Bilingual/Spanish a plus.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Ability to supervise and responsible for the operation of the classroom.
Provide and maintain a safe and nurturing environment
Work with infants warmly, calmly and in an unhurried way.
Meet the social-emotional, physical and development needs of individual infants and toddlers.
Sufficient physical health which would require individual to: lift 45 pounds or more, squat, kneel, bend, stand, walk/run on uneven surfaces, climb stairs, sit on floor, participate in outdoor activities daily
Document all feedings and the amount, the time of diaper change and what type, potty training times.
Maintain regular daily attendance and report to work at scheduled times.
Generate and submit required paperwork.
Provide children opportunities to export a variety of sensory and motor experiences, development of self awareness, autonomy and self-expression, gross and fine motor development.
Involve parents and families in all aspects of the classroom. And encourage families to become involved in workshops, trainings, volunteering and other Early Head Start activities.
Continue professional growth by participating in any education classes, training programs
Make at least two home visits per each child per program year.
Maintain confidentiality at all times.
